S.V. Wolfland

Estuary

Like an endless cavity

Of glass,

A stareless mirror,

The water stretches,

Remote and unreflective

With solid cut edges -

A hazy abyss.

The farther shore

Another realm.

The nearer, visible shore,

A definite fragment.

Starless, wordless

An expense of shifting territory.

Tomorrow it will be gone

Like a drained lake

Or a dream.

Today it is a calm

And dead still certainty.

A complete facsimile of

Trust.
