The
Whitney Latham-Lechich
Poet-in-Residence
Applications for the Whitney Latham Lechich Poet-in-Residence, a two-year residency for poets, are closed. Congratulations to Garland Thompson, the 2007/2009 Poet-in-Residence.
The late Whitney Latham-Lechich was a Pacific Grove poet and an avid supporter of poetry who donated her beautiful home to support poetry in the community she loved so much. Located just blocks from picturesque Lovers' Point, the three-bedroom, one-bath historic home is provided to a qualified poet at a very affordable rent for the period of two years.
In exchange for the use of this inspirational house, the Whitney Latham-Lechich poet-in-residence is expected to promote poetry in the community while continuing to produce their own work. Past poets-in-residence created a reading series, a poetry festival, a weekly workshop, an anthology of Monterey Bay poets, and this website.
