Fishing for PortentsSquid boats open dark wings,
troll kaleidoscope waters.
We wander separate shores,
burn away all that was written upon us.
During sleep, the departed and lost
speak within dream, bringing inchoate comfort.
Look how skies spin to silver,
spill golden moon blur, sapphire starscapes.
I rise newly opened,
anticipate the arrival of additional omens.

Jennifer Lagier is a member of the Italian American Writers Association, National Writers Union and California Writers Club. She has published four books, Coyote Dream Cantos, Where We Grew Up, Second-Class Citizen, and The Mangia Syndrome.
