WHAT: THE 2ND ANNUAL MONTEREY BAY POETRY FESTIVAL

The 2nd Annual Monterey Bay Poetry Festival will take place in historic Chautauqua Hall in Pacific Grove, California from noon until 8 pm on April 18, 2004.

A celebration of poetry in Santa Cruz and Monterey Counties, the festival’s featured poets are Len Anderson, Molly Fisk, David Gitin, Akasha Gloria Hull, Robert Sward and Ric Masten.

As a benefit for the forthcoming Anthology of Monterey Bay Poets, the festival will also include a reading by more than 50 contributors to the anthology including Marcia Adams, Frances Payne Adler, Julia Alter, Charles Atkinson, Barbara Bloom, Judith Cody, JP Dancing Bear, Susan Samuels Drake, Kate Evans, Dion Farquhar, Kathleen Flowers, Bert Glick, Patricia Grube, Ellen Hart, Karen Hepner, Christina Hutchins, Allston James, Tamara Jane, Jonell Esme Jel’enedra, Rosie King, Megan Lee, Barbara Leon, Dan Linehan, George Lober, Don Lobner, Hermie Medley, William Minor, Dan Phillips, Reda Rackley, Ziggy Rendler-Bregman, Elliot Ruchowitz-Roberts, Dee Roe, Joan Safajek, CJ Sage, Charles Schubert, Patti Sirens, Robin Somers, Anne Stickel, Maria Garcia Tabor, Garland Thompson, Molly Tierney, Patrice Vecchione, Denis Wagner, Phillip Wagner, Ken Weisner, Suki Wessling and George Wilson.

The festival will begin at noon with a special reading by children from Del Rey Oaks Elementary School led by Patrice Vecchione and a reading by David Gitin’s Monterey Peninsula College writing students. It will also feature the work of local artists and accompanying piano by William Minor.
