Monterey Bay Poetry Festival

Chautauqua Hall (16th and Central Avenue) were adorned with jade sculptures carved by world-renowned jade sculptor Don Wobber of Pacific Grove. These sculptures, created from stone that Wobber brings up from the depths of Jade Cove in Big Sur, will be accompanied by the poetry of his wife, Donna Wobber.

11:00 AM	Pacific Grove Middle School Poets / Monterey Bay Haiku Project (15 minutes) Description: Students from Sandra Jordan’s 8th grade class at Pacific Grove Middle School present their haiku about the Monterey Bay.
11:15 AM	Whitney Latham Lechich Poetry Workshop Reading (45 minutes) Description: Poets read work generated in popular local workshop. Featured readers include Kitty Petruccelli, Sue Ellen Stringer, Tony Melanio, Stephanie Malcolm, Gabriel Days, Megan Lee, and more.
12:00 PM	Bonnie Gartshore Memorial Tribute (30 minutes) Description: The Monterey Public Library staff is proud to honor Bonnie's memory with a reading of her poetry. The readers are Readers Services staff Kim Bui-Burton and Susan Hoffman (poets in their own right) and Special Services Coordinator, Jeanne McCombs.
12:30 PM	Elliot Ruchowitz-Roberts, Ron Lampi, and Bert Glick (45 minutes) Description: Ruchowitz-Roberts, Lampi, and Glick read poems on various subjects from their own work.
1:15 PM	Del Rey Woods Elementary School Poets (15 minutes) Description: Young poets are finding their voices this year at Del Rey Woods School in Seaside. Under the direction of poet Patrice Vecchione students are writing reams of poetry. Voices like these you've just got to hear.
1:30 PM	Patrice Vecchione, Barbara Rios, and Patricia Grube (45 minutes) Description: Vecchione, Rios and Grube read poems on various subjects from their own work
2:15 PM	High School Poetry Readings (30 minutes) Description: Local High school poets share their work. Featured readers include winners of the 10th annual Robert Campbell Poetry Award winners, sponsored by Carl Cherry Center for the Arts.
2:45 PM	Susan Hoffman, Kim Bui-Burton, and Maria Tabor (45 minutes) Description: Hoffman, Bui-Burton and Tabor read poems on various subjects from their own work
3:30 PM	Tricia Yost, George Donald, and Kent Fielding (45 minutes) Description: Yost, Donald, and Fielding read poems on various subjects from their own work.
4:15 PM	Don and Donna Wobber (30 minutes) Description: Don Wobber – sculptor, diver, and local legend – discusses his jade sculpture. His wife, Donna, reads the poetry she has written to accompany, complement, and accentuate her husband’s work
4:45 PM	Victor Henry, Morton Marcus, and Ken Weisner (45 minutes) Description: Henry, Marcus, and Weisner read poems on various subjects.
5:30 PM	Diana Garcia, Debra Busman, and Frances Payne Adler (60 minutes) Description: Garcia, Busman, and Adler present their politically charged poetry. Reading followed by a short panel discussion of poetry as a means of social action.
6:30 PM	Ryan Masters, Robert Sward, and Ellen Bass (45 minutes) Description: Masters, Sward, and Bass read poems on various subjects.
7:15 PM	Joseph McNeilly, George Lober, and William Minor (45 minutes) Description: McNeilly, Lober, and Minor collectively read poems of Love and Death.
8:00 PM	Monterey Bay Poetry Open Mic/Close Description: Floor opened to any and all poets. Hosted by Megan Lee.
